Flood Protection

The Netherlands, a country shaped by water, has long faced challenges in flood protection and water level management. BT Engineering is committed to delivering a sustainable and water-safe future.

BT Engineering uses its specialist technical expertise in the interests of both the clients and society. Drawing on our practical experience, we develop buildable designs that progress smoothly through the design process. When necessary, we respond quickly to changing circumstances, such as design changes or unforeseen conditions during construction. With the goal: a safer Netherlands, a safer world.

Our contribution to flood safety is built on three pillars:

Flood defences: Design and assessment of flood defences, covering all relevant failure mechanisms (such as at Versterking Markermeerdijken, de Afsluitdijk, Sterke Lekdijk).
Water level management: Engineering works related to pumping stations and sluices (objects used for water level management). For example project Gemaal Petronella. Design and upgrading of pumping stations and sluices for effective water level management
Non-Flood-defence structures: Assessment of non-flood-defence structures and activities within the zone of influence of a flood defence (Waternet, Sterke Lekdijk).

Even though we often see it as a given, the Dutch landscape is actually quite fascinating. The expression “God created the world but the Dutch created the Netherlands” says enough. A lot of technology and thought went into that landscape. We think it’s fascinating to see and to understand. Let us develop, design and improve it and let us ensure that it is done efficiently, right the first time and without hinderance, so that others can continue to regard those dry polders as a given.
